Mike believes in making lectures fun and interactive, rather than stuffy and one sided. With each lecture Mike will tell funny and inspirational stories and get the audience involved as much as possible. Every lecture is about an hour long (though can be tailored to be shorter or longer) and will end with a Q&A and book signing.

Having written over 100 horror short stories, working with genre legends on their official biographies and running a horror imprint at his publishing company, horror is in Mike’s blood. This lecture focuses on the art and industry of horror. From why we find things scary to how to spook a reader, this lecture focuses on aspects of the macabre. While it is perfect for the Halloween, with horror being one of the most profitable genres there is, this lecture is perfect for any time of the year.
Running a publishing company for over a decade and having extensive writing experience, Mike is a true expert at the writing world. From self-publishing to six figure book contracts with major houses to tens of thousands of his books sold in over 100 countries, Mike has done it all and succeeded. Using that experience, Mike gives an informative talk about writing and the industry, but focuses most of this talk on answering questions that the audience wants to know about writing and publishing.
Having worked on five celebrity biographies, Mike specializes in non-fiction writing. In this lecture Mike talks about the unique journey of writing non-fiction, including tips and tricks of capturing a voice and keeping a reader compelled. As long as you have a room with chairs and a table, you can have an event! Though it is best to a projector with a Mac hook up so Mike can show videos and pictures. No microphone is needed unless more than thirty people are expected. Mike also prefers a high stool over a lectern. A table is required for the signing after the event.
Mike is very upfront with his fees and does not change them according to the location or event like a lot of speakers do. Mike charges a flat fee of $350, as long as he can sell books after the talk. If he is not allowed to sell books, the fee is $650.
If the talk is within 2 hours of Springfield, MA, there is no travel costs. Anything over 2 hours requires the standard government per-mile rate for milage. Anything over four hours will require a standard hotel room and a food per-diem of $75 per day. Anything over 6 hours will require coach flights and transportation at the location as well as the food per-diem. Mike is far from a diva and work with you to get the cheapest flights and hotels.
Yes! Mike typically sells books himself, but if you are more than welcome to order books at wholesale prices and to sell them yourself after the event to make a profit. If you’d like to do this, please talk to Mike ahead of time as ordering books can take several weeks.
Mike prefers to keep all talks open to the public (or members/staff). However, if you’d like to charge for the event, please talk to Mike ahead of time to work out an agreement.
Yes! Mike will post the event on his page and promote it on his social media accounts. He will also make a TikTok and posts about and from the event. He is also more than happy to do any interviews you would like to set up to help promote the talk.
